Natives go together naturally

Can you spot the natives in this picture? Growing on a sunny gravel pathway are native grasses, wild columbine, red beardtongue, black-eyed susan and milkweed. These plants naturally complement each other. So whether you are planning a shade garden, a pollinator garden or a micro meadow you can be confident that combining a group of different natives will work in your garden.

This past week I hosted the Potomac Mecklenburg Garden Club at Birds Nest Natives. They are a great organization helping to build local habitat by adding natives to their personal gardens and the community gardens they maintain. Check them out!

My final spring plant sale will be this Friday May 31st and Saturday June 1st from 9a-2p at 47 Birds Nest Way Shepherdstown, WV. Another native sale event this weekend is The PVAS Monarch Alliance sale at Sunny Meadows. Hope you can make it to one or both of these sales. If you can't you are welcome to shop my nursery throughout the summer by emailing me at birdsnestnatives@gmail.com to arrange a visit.
