Our Roots
In 2004 our family moved onto two acres of former pastureland in Jefferson County, West Virginia. Our empty yard slowly filled with vegetable gardens, a backyard orchard, and some 4H chickens and goats. Thanks to the encouragement of our friend and fellow native plant nursery owner, Virginia Winston, we began planting our first native trees and shrubs. In 2022, we removed our orchard and developed a new vision with Doug Tallamy and the homegrown national park as our inspiration. This was the birth of Birds Nest Natives.

We started our micronursery with the goal of increasing insect, bird, and plant diversity in our yard and community. We only sell native plants that we too are growing on our farm. Our potting mix and plant material are from sustainable producers. All our pots are recycled and we take returns for repeat customers. We will exchange your extra natives for credit towards purchasing any of our plants. Please come visit!
