My second plant sale will be this Friday and Saturday from 9a-2p at 47 Birds Nest Way Shepherdstown, WV. Fall is the best time to plant native perennials and shrubs. They have a chance to adapt to their new home and lay down their roots without having to spend energy growing bigger.
My goal for Birds Nest Natives is to have every plant I sell in my own garden. This week I planted two new perennials: hoary skullcap and rattlesnake master. I saw them at the US Botanical Gardens this July and they are both beautiful midsummer bloomers. In addition to these two plants, I have a variety of goldenrods, milkweeds, and mountain mints along with some tried and true native perennials and a variety of shrubs. My goal for this plant sale mirrors my vision for Birds Nest Natives: to increase biodiversity and native habitat in my community. Every plant counts!
